YAAN's CEO Mr Ye Chen Nominated as One of 60 Most Influential Persons in the China Security Industry

Yaan Security Tech expect better results
Growth to come from new products, expansion beyond China market

YAAN Security Technology, whose stock plunged after it issued an interim profit warning in 2005, said 2006 will be a “much better year” for the company.
Growth will come from new products, expansion to markets outside China and a need for more security systems of the kind it makes in China as well as overseas, it said.
The China-based designer of security surveillance systems expects 2006 net profit to be higher than the 8.4 million yuan (S$1.6 million) it made in 2005, no thanks to more than 2 million yuan of expenses related to its Singapore listing in May that year.
“FY06 will be much better than FY05 and I think it might even be better than FY04,”chief executive and chairman Ye Chen said in an interview yesterday.
He said that for the first half of this year, net profit was 2.6 million yuan,58 per cent more than the 1.6 million yuan it made in the same half last year.
At the same time, the company's business is “seasonal”, Mr. Ye said, meaning that second-half sales typically make up two-thirds of the entire year's revenue.
Yaan Security has also started marketing its new products, a dual-camera surveillance dome and a surveillance robot, both firsts in China , Mr. Ye said.
“This year, we forged ahead with our R&D plans and released new ranges of products which we believe will contribute positively to the group in FY2007,” he said. “To stay ahead of competition, we will continue to develop new products and target to register 30 more patents next year.” The more sophisticated surveillance domes made up 10 per cent of 2005 sales, but that should go up to 20 per cent this year, said chief financial officer Amanda Chen. The rest of sales come from pan/tilt cameras and their housings.
Next year, Yaan hopes to become a contract manufacturer for some overseas makers of surveillance cameras and closed-circuit television systems. It already has JVC as a customer. Overseas sales make up 10 per cent of the total currently.
In July 2005- two months after it listed in Singapore-Yaan issued a profit warning, saying that first half profit will be lower than what it was in the same period in 2004.
Its stock plunged to an all-time low of 10 cents. The shares have since recovered, closing unchanged at 17 cents yesterday.

YAAN CEO attends Mid-Autumn Tea Party at Tianjin High-Tech Industrial Park
CEO of YAAN Technology Electronic Co., Ltd. and Vice-Chairman of Federation of Industry & Commerce, Mr Ye Chen was invited to the Mid-Autumn Tea Party of Tianjin High-Tech Industrial Park on 27 September 2006.
As the newly-elected Vice-Chairman of Federation of Industry & Commerce, Mr Ye Chen announced that efforts will be made to enhance and improve the industrial park, in order to position it as the “Silicon Valley of China”.
Currently, the small and medium-sized enterprises faced two key issues: firstly, existing entrepreneurs were not equipped to introduce international business practices; secondly, there was a lack of qualified talent and expertise which restricted the growth of the enterprises. Hence, the industrial park is actively looking into resolving these issues by enhancing existing policies, working with head-hunting firms, as well as tapping the enterprises for suggestions to boost the growth of the companies.
At the meeting, Mr Zhou Sichun, Secretary of Commission for Science & Technology, acknowledged the contributions of the enterprises to the industrial park. These enterprises have contributed significantly in terms of knowledge creation, technology innovation, and creativity. Mr Zhou urged them to continue with their efforts in meeting challenges and identifying opportunities, so as to further develop the park.

Mr Ye Chen was Elected as the 2nd Vice-Chairman of Federation of Industry & Commerce of Tianjin Hi-Tech Industrial Park
Chairman and CEO of YAAN Mr Ye Chen was elected as the 2nd Vice-Chairman of Federation of Industry & Commerce of Tianjin Hi-Tech Industrial Park, on 14 September 2006. His election testifies to the Federation's recognition of YAAN's contributions to the overall development of the park.
The 2nd Conference of the Federation of Industry & Commerce of Tianjin Hi-Tech Industrial Park was held at Haitai Mansion , attended by 102 representatives from various enterprises in the park.
Mr Zhang Jianhao was elected as the Chairman of the 2nd Federation of Industry & Commerce, while Mr Liu Li was elected as the 1st Vice-Chairman. Mr Ye Chen was elected as 2nd Vice-Chairman, with five other persons.
The new-elected Chairman, Mr Zhang Jianhao, delivered a speech emphasising his focus on supporting creative companies as well as keeping an eye on an intellectual property rights project.
Mr Ye Chen gave a closing speech as the new Vice-chairman. He expressed his willingness to work diligently to fulfill his responsibilities, as well as to work closely with the enterprises in the development of the park.

YAAN Products Elected as National Excellent Products of 3111 Project
The 3111 Project is an important pilot project sponsored by the Ministry of Public Security of the PRC, aimed at installing an alarm and surveillance system in China . The Ministry of Public Security will provide support to various areas such as alarm network construction, alarm and surveillance technology integration, R&D of alarm platforms, as well as the set-up of an emergency system in the police department.
In 2006, the Science & Technology Bureau of the Ministry of Public Security announced that it would promote the construction of China 's alarm and surveillance system. Hence, with recommendations of the China Security & Protection Association and industry experts, a Catalogue of Excellent Products of 3111 Project was put together.
There are two categories of products in the Catalogue: invasion alarm system and video surveillance. The Kunming International Expo of Facilities for Security, Police & Fire Protection was held at Kunming International Convention & Exhibition Center , China from 20 to 23 July 2006. Organised by the Security & Protection for Public, the Expo attracted more than 130 famous enterprises and companies from China and abroad, showcasing their technology and products. As the first Chinese company in the Top 10 Security Brands to be listed overseas, YAAN Technology Electronic Co., Ltd. was invited to attend this exhibition.

2006 Nanjing Public Security Defensive Production Exhibition & Nanjing International Public Security Product & Technology Exhibition
From 6-8 April 2006, YAAN Technology Electronic Co, Ltd attended the 5th Nanjing Public Security Defensive Production Exhibition. YAAN CEO Ye Chen elected as Communications Commissioner at 3rd & 4th Plenary Sessions of the 4th Conference of SAC/TC100
From 18-20 May 2006, the 3rd and 4th Plenary Sessions of the 4th Conference of SAC/TC100 (Standardization Technical Committee for Security & Protection Alarm System of China) was held at Beijing Central Garden Hotel.
YAAN's CEO Mr Ye Chen was invited to participate in the conference. At the same time, he was elected as Communications Commissioner with YAAN as Communications Commission Member. As a key participant of the SAC/TC100, YAAN contributed to both the formulation of the constitution and amendment of the national and professional standards, which in turn aim to promote greater interest in the national security and protection industry.
During the conference, all working reports from the 2nd Plenary Session of the 4th Conference were distributed, while the 11th Five-Year Plan of SAC/TC100 was also discussed.

In 2006, YAAN participated actively in two overseas events. They were the ISC West International Security & Protection Expo which was held in April, and the IFSEC2006 International Security & Fire Protection Technology & Facilities Exhibition held in Birmingham, UK in May.

Overlooked China Growth Stock

Tianjin-based YAAN recorded a 26% rise in turnover to 65 million renminbi for the year ended Dec 31, 2005.

It has just secured a 20 million renminbi contract from Zhejiang Da Hua Technology to manufacture an intelligent speed dome camera under the “Da Hua” brand, due for delivery this year. There is no analyst coverage for the stock, which has a market capitalization of only ＄ 11 million. But is there potential in this China stock that the market has overlooked just because of its size, as evidenced by the contract win?

YAAN says China 's National Public Safety Department started implementing its Security City project in June 2004, on account of concerns over rising crime rates. The first batch of 21 major cities includes Beijing (which will host the Olympics in 2008), Shanghai and Guangdong . From 2004 to 2008, Beijing is expected to spend 300 million renminbi on security technology infrastructure alone. Shanghai plans to install over 200,000 CCTV cameras by 2010. 250, 000 Cameras Video Surveillance Cameras to be installed in Guangzhou
During a conference on video surveillance systems for public security held last week in Guangzhou , it was estimated that within two years, about 250,000 video surveillance cameras will be installed in various public places in Guangzhou city.
In order to prevent crimes, the Guangdong government requires the use of technical security surveillance facilities to monitor crowd movements in public places. Such exhibitions on security and surveillance equipment and facilities are used as a platform for companies who want to leverage Guangzhou 's need for such security facilities.

250,000 Video Surveillance Cameras to be installed over two years in Guangdong
Commenting on the public security situation in Guangdong, Zhang Dejiang, Commissioner of the Center Political Bureau and Secretary-General of Guangdong Provincial Committee, said that security surveillance facilities should be used to fight crime in the Pearl River Delta region.
Recently, projects such as “Arming Police with High-Tech Equipment” and “Building a Safe Guangdong” have become an important feature of Guangdong public security surveillance system. The construction of a network of public security surveillance system is also on the way.
According to the latest reports, the installation and upgrading of 250,000 video surveillance cameras will be completed within two years in Guangdong . The first phase will roll out in places such as security stations, the city center, large building sites, Baiyun International Airport , Guangzhou Railway Station, public transportation network, as well as areas with rental homes and high crimes rates.
Experts and sources say that large-scale events such as the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games will create demand for even more high-tech and good quality video surveillance systems.

11 March 2006, Current Affairs and Politics Edition: Schools and kindergartens in Jinan are using YAAN's video surveillance products. The Jinan Education Bureau has installed YAAN's surveillance products in about 50 schools and kindergartens. The surveillance system, which is connected with 110 public security alarm centers, will keep a safe watch over the children's daily activities.

YAAN makes more business partners during the Taipei Security & Protection Industry Exhibition
From 2 – 4 March 2006, the Taipei International Security Technology Expo was held at Taipei International Trade Center . During the Expo, YAAN showcased several products, including its 3D Dynamic Preset High Speed Domes, High Speed Domes like YH5902, YH5106, and YH5407, Y3040 Series Pan/Tilt Cameras, Y2030 Series Keyboards, YP3901 for video conferences, etc.
YAAN's new star product – 3D Dynamic Preset High Speed Domes – proved extensively popular with audiences. Participants were also educated on YAAN's strength and knowledge in the field of research and development. YAAN not only took this chance to learn more about the trend of security industry worldwide, but also took the opportunity to expand its reach to potential overseas customers and make new business partners.
This exhibition boasted an attendance of 400 exhibitioners from the security facility industry, 1000 exhibition platforms, and a display of more than 1500 kinds of high-tech security & protection equipments.
